About the role
We are seeking an experienced Sonographer to join our Canterbury team on a 12-month fixed term Parental Leave cover to perform high quality scans for your patients and referrers.
You will bring clinical expertise and leadership to the service, offering a welcoming, and empathetic imaging service to our Canterbury patients, referrers and funders. This role will be conducting high-quality ultrasound exams, ensuring diagnostic imaging meets protocols and record data correct in our systems.
About you
The successful candidate will ideally possess the following skills and experience:
· Be a qualified Sonographer - registered with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologists Board and hold a current practicing certificate. · Be driven and able to work both within a multi-disciplinary team and independently. · Have a proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including our patients and their family/whanau as well as other health care professionals and providers. · Have the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships. · Have a proven ability to demonstrate calmness under pressure. · Be a highly motivated, flexible team player. · Understanding of the importance of maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.

Your workday will include:
· Conducting ultrasound patient examinations while providing a high level of care and diligence to the patient · Collaborate closely with radiologists and referring physicians to provide accurate interpretations of images. · Maintain and operate ultrasound equipment, ensuring its proper functionality and adhering to safety protocols. · Formatting, issuing and being accountable for clinical reports · Comfort and educate patients throughout the imaging process, addressing any concerns or questions they may have. · Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and departmental efficiency.
