A day in the life of this Sonographer role could look like:
- Perform high-quality ultrasound examinations independently, ensuring optimal images for diagnosis.
- Collaborate closely with radiologists and referring physicians to provide accurate interpretations of images.
- Maintain and operate ultrasound equipment, ensuring its proper functionality and adhering to safety protocols.
- Document patient information, clinical history, and ultrasound findings accurately in the medical records.
- Comfort and educate patients throughout the imaging process, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
- Stay current with advancements in MSK ultrasound technology and techniques to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and departmental efficiency.

The successful candidate will ideally possess the following skills and experience:
- Be a qualified Sonographer - registered with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologists Board and hold a current practicing certificate.
- An ability to lead, coach and provide feedback to the Sonographer team
- Be driven and able to work both within a multi-disciplinary team and independently.
- Have a proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including our patients and their family/whanau as well as other health care professionals and providers.
- Have the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Have a proven ability to demonstrate calmness under pressure.
- Be a highly motivated, flexible team player.
- Understanding of the importance of maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
