Poised to deliver more services including cancer care in the South Island, Pacific Radiology reveals an artist’s impression for its new Dunedin-based flagship branch.
Architectural impression of new building, Pacific Radiology PET-CT, Leading-edge PET/CT technology provides the ultimate in patient comfort
Located at 30 Great King Street, within this striking new building, Pacific Radiology flagship branch will occupy 2,150 square metres.
Conveniently located close to all public transport, with ample parking space, and just two blocks from Dunedin Hospital, it's location provides ease of connection for patients and medical professionals alike.
Dr Jeremy Sharr, Chief Operations Officer, explains the importance of this facility:
"This new Pacific Radiology branch will host the very latest in PET/CT scanner technology, which is key in diagnosing and managing advanced cancers. It will also replace our current inner-city Dunedin sites and deliver breast imaging, MRI, CT, ultrasound, and x-ray services."
At present, southern patients who need a PET/CT scan have to travel to Christchurch for the procedure. This new Dunedin clinic will be able to perform over 2000 PET-CT scans per year, providing a massive uplift in local cancer care services available.
Dr Greg Harkness, Pacific Radiology’s Managing Radiologist for Otago-Southland, shares his enthusiasm:
"Otago and Southland patients have had to travel to Christchurch previously for PET-CT scanning, which is difficult and stressful for people who are already unwell. With resource consent and location confirmed, we are well underway in delivering essential advanced cancer imaging services, locally."
Earthworks are expected to commence at the Great King site in June this year with the new facility being fully operational early 2025.
