This month we celebrate a significant win for New Zealand radiology and our very own Sarah Green – Rolleston Branch Manager.
The current acting President of the ISMRT New Zealand national chapter became the 28th winner of the prestigious Crues-Kressel Award at this year’s 31st Annual Conference in London. This award not only recognises Sarah’s enormous contribution to the global education of MR technologists, but also establishes her as the first New Zealander to bring home this honour in the new millennium.
"I feel honoured to see my name amongst many others I’ve spent a career admiring – and the recognition of my peers is enormously meaningful."
Selwyn born Sarah initially qualified in Christchurch but found her calling in MRI whilst working in Dublin; a passion she later brought back to Pacific Radiology in 2006. Since then, she has gone on to establish an impressive career specialising in cardiac and neuroimaging – but has perhaps made some of her most notable global contributions as an elected SMRT Policy Board Member. In this role she was able to provide opportunities worldwide for MR technologists, radiographers, vendors and employers to network, share knowledge and build a meaningful community. To achieve this Sarah was instrumental in establishing ISMRT divisions in the UK and North America, along with organising and moderating numerous webinars and meetings all over the world.
"Knowledge is universal, but the differing landscape of the global community presents unique challenges."
It is this drive to create industry-leading, worldwide education that led her to take on the role of Rolleston Branch Manager. Pacific Radiology’s purpose, “world-class radiology delivered locally” parallels the work Sarah’s undertaken with ISMRT ensuring world-class education is locally accessible to community members. An example including her role in promoting and ultimately hosting a particularly noteworthy and enormously successful webinar viewed globally and presented entirely in Greek – in order to better improve access to MR education in Greece.
"I’m particularly proud of the work we did to ensure the first SMRT Greek webinar was a success."
With a career spanning over 15 years, Sarah has championed ‘investment in people’ through community, education and empowerment – an ideology culminating with her role in establishing the first ISMRT New Zealand National Chapter in 2020.
"It has been a privilege to be part of building a New Zealand community, forging our Pacific Radiology path and providing world-class education and networking opportunities to MR Community."
